Vaccinations - dogs

Vaccination is certainly the most important routine for puppies and even adult dogs in their life. The definition of vaccination is to enable the dog to produce immunity towards certain viral and bacterial diseases.

Our practice encourage owners to talk to us and start a good record keeping of vaccination programmes as that will eradicate any chances of your dog down with the infectious diseases.

Most common names given for vaccinations are 6 in 1, 7 in 1 or even some till 10 in 1. What 6 in 1 explains is the number of disease contain in the vaccine.

6 in 1 vaccines are use to protect your dog against disease namely :-
  • Canine Cough
  • Canine Respiratory Disease
  • Canine Distemper
  • Canine Hepatitis
  • Canine Leptospirosis
  • Canine Parvovirus
7 in 1 vaccines are additional of Canine Coronavirus

Protocol of vaccines for puppies as below :

  1. 1st vaccine - puppy age between 6 weeks till 8 weeks
  2. 2nd vaccine - to be given between 3 weeks apart from the first vaccination
  3. 3rd vaccine - to be given between 3 weeks apart from the second vaccination
  4. 4th vaccine only to be given to specific breeds like Rottweiler, GSD, Doberman and etc.
Protocol of vaccines for adults :

Perform annually as well as health check.

Owners are advise to ensure each vaccination comes with vaccine sticker and also check on the expiry dates. Only veterinarian are allow to perform vaccinations for your dogs. In some cases, dogs maybe be lethargic and off its food for a day or two. If condition get worse, you should contact us for advice.
